A System to Charge the Battery of an Electric Car in Just 90 Seconds

One of the main obstacles to the popularization of electric vehicles is the time required to recharge the battery. Even when fast charging, the interval required for refueling an electric car is much higher than needed to fill the fuel tank at a gas station.

Recently, Tesla, a brand of American electric vehicles, has demonstrated a new battery swap service where users of their models could have full autonomy in just 90 seconds.

This is a battery replacement stations completely robotized who are responsible for disconnecting the old battery, remove it and replace it with a fully charged one in just a minute and a half. Thus, users of electric vehicles could make long journeys with the same ease that the car equipped with combustion engines.

The battery swap cost would be between 60 and 80 dollars for each change. As for your old battery, you have two options: replace it with the new one for a fee depending on the age difference with the exchanged or return to pick up your battery charged on the return trip.

Models

Obviously, the battery change has cost more than conventional charging the battery in the grid, but its main advantage is speed. This process would be valid for models S and X of the brand and the implementation of each of these stations would cost half a million dollars.
