Audi RS Q3 Review

From November 2013 and from 62 400 euros, this version will be available Q3 -body model with smaller SUV that Audi produced. It has a gasoline engine of 310 hp, seven-speed automatic transmission and AWD. The Audi RS Q3 is 6900 euros more expensive than the  Mercedes-Benz GLK  350 4MATIC, the closest model for power and size (it has 306 hp and is 12 cm long). It accelerates from 0-100 km / h in 5.2 s, while the GLK needs 1.3 seconds in the same measurement.

This Audi is also faster 0-100 km / h for a Opel Astra OPC  (280 hp) and a Porsche Cayman  (275 HP).

The engine is based on that used in the Audi TT RS and RS 3 Sportback . It has five cylinders, 2480 cc engine, direct injection and turbocharging  with a turbocharger .Gives maximum power, 310 hp, between 5200 and 6700 rpm. Unlike the other two models mentioned with this engine, the RS Q3 has system Stop & Start to reduce consumption in town. The average consumption is 8.8 liters of fuel per hundred kilometers (the Mercedes-Benz GLK 350 4Matic is 8.6 l/100 km).

The gearbox is automatic dual clutch , which Audi calls "S tronic" - with seven relations. There are three working modes two normal-automatic "D" and sporty "S" - and manually selecting the driver gears from the gear lever or the paddles behind the steering wheel.It has function 'Launch Control', which lets out from standstill with the greatest possible acceleration.  's also possible to modify the throttle pedal response and exhaust sound with the command "Audi drive select" opting for one of the three programs available ('self', 'comfort' and 'dynamic'). The stability control can be switched off. The permanent all-wheel drive system is the same as in the rest of the range Q3. A multi-plate clutch hosted by the rear differential engages greater or lesser extent to transmit to the rear wheels the amount of torque that a PBX considered necessary. The suspension is the same type-McPherson front and rear deformable parallelogram, with specific settings spring and damper, and a height 25 mm lower down than a standard Q3.

The brake disks for the front wheels are punctured and its perimeter is not smooth circumference but is lobed. According to Audi it can reduce the mass 0.5 kilograms per drive. Its diameter is 365 millimeters (rear discs have a diameter of 310 mm). The brake calipers front discs are eight pistons are painted black (optionally in red) and have the RS logo.

Both the exterior and the interior is no specific decorative details. They are, for example, the grids of the front air intakes, rear bumper diffuser, oval exhaust outlet, the seats upholstered in leather and Alcantara, the pedals and the gray background of the instrument cluster. His appearance and was overtaken by a prototype. 

There are no decorative elements, such as indications of oil temperature, turbo boost pressure and a stopwatch. Changes with respect to other Q3, the volume of the luggage compartment is 356 liters versus 460. We do not know the reason for this reduction, Audi says that the battery only RS is placed behind instead of in the engine, but that does not justify the 104 liters of difference.
