Toyota Prius+ Price and Insurance Cost

The Toyota Prius + is a hybrid minivan mechanically similar to the Toyota Prius, ie it is a hybrid car that moves with an electric motor and a petrol. The battery that powers the electric motor can not be charged to an outlet (which is possible in the Prius Plug-in Hybrid)

It is available from 28 000 euros and three trim levels (all prices and equipment). Its starting price seems high, but it is hard to compare because none of their competitors are hybrids. Most of the diesel MPVs its size and power are clearly less expensive, as the Opel Zafira Tourer, Renault Grand Scenic and the Ford Grand C-MAX. For the price of the Toyota Prius + MPV can access larger, such as the Ford S-Max 2.0 TDCi 140 hp. It is also more expensive and larger than a Toyota Verso.

The Prius + at the lowest possible equipment is 4700 euros more expensive than the Prius and its body is 13.5 inches long. The clearest advantage of a Prius compared to a Prius is that it has seven seats. You can also make sense to pay the difference if only five seats are used, as their occupants will travel better than in a normal Prius as there is more space in all directions every square is individual.

The seven-seat Prius + are arranged in three rows of seats ( its configuration is 2/3 /2). The first five are very large , while in the last two fit enough to comfort two people of approximately 1.80 m tall. Access is not very comfortable, but once inside , you travel better than them for a Ford Grand C -MAX or a Chevrolet Orlando.
Although room for occupants is above average, per trunk is the worst . With the first two rows of seats in the service position , the boot is not big nor is usable forms . This consideration is made by measuring their ability to the curtain that covers : much volume can be increased by loading up the roof , but it is not a safe option because networks can not be installed vertical or something similar that separates the cargo space for occupant .
For its silhouette, the Toyota Prius + is difficult to place on the market. Its body is less high than many competitors and their seats are closer to the ground . Somehow, it is halfway between a Toyota Avensis Wagon and a Toyota Verso.
It can be a very satisfying vehicle depending on the use made of it . Possibly the best MPV in its price for city or roads around where you can circulate sustained speed . Especially in town , has a particularly low fuel consumption and outstanding running smoothness (partly because sometimes moves only using the electric motor) . It also helps your driving ease not having to drive a stick shift .
However, it does not seem as good to use mainly on roads where necessary usually much acceleration or climbing steep slopes because the power can be low and the noise inside , high. For the money this Prius + MPV are going better in rough roads .

In the city and surrounding spends less than its competitors but in typical highway trip does not offer consumer a clear advantage (least cost per kilometer) compared to diesel-engine minibuses. The minimum consumption may be about 5.0 l/100 km and not normal to spend more than 7.5 l/100 km.

According to our measurements, Prius consumption is slightly larger than a normal Prius since heavier and is more aerodynamic drag.

Like the Prius, the Prius + is planned to install a tow hook (picture of what the manual says about it).

Equipment and other details

There are three trim levels: 'Eco', 'Advance' and 'Executive'. I find it difficult to choose one or the other, as each one has a set of elements that can not be purchased separately and not all customer will be of interest. For example, the headlights of LEDs for lighting function short range one can have with the Prius + more expensive, but that necessitates carrying leather upholstery (apparently is of good quality to the touch, but I did not choose it scarcely back breathes and just soaked easily, at least in warm weather). A curious element linked to the Prius + equipment more expensive are the "water repellent moons" of the front doors. After having driven in heavy rain, I have the feeling that the drops on the glass sliding rapidly, leaving almost no trace and, when dry, the glass was cleaner than usual.

The intermediate level of equipment, 'Advance', perhaps the most interesting because it seems to already have a number of things that come in handy in a car such as rear camera parking aid and curtains on the side windows of the rear doors. Necessarily comes with halogen bulbs headlights, that of which I can not give an opinion because I have not tried.

One of the attractions of the version less equipment, "Echo", is that due to the smaller size of its wheels, you need considerably less room to maneuver than the other two. For the same reason, Toyota approves lower fuel consumption for the Prius + with this level of equipment.

other data

The Prius + version for USA Prius v is called. The main difference between the European and the American model is that the former has seven seats as standard and the second only five.
