Car Review and Road Tests: Nissan Pathfinder 2013 Fully Revealed

Nissan has unveiled a new Pathfinder. It is a completely different model (keeps the seven places) by substitution (information model Nissan Pathfinder 2010), both by design and structurally. Nissan has already announced its appearance with the prototype Pathfinder Concept.

The Pathfinder is still sold is one of the few remaining SUVs spar chassis, solution used to give greater strength to the body. Nissan leaves this building technique in the Pathfinder model 2013 to make a monocoque chassis (the one used in most cars and SUVs that are currently marketed). This change aims to make a car lighter and stiffer. According to Nissan have reduced the weight 227 kg, so that the new Pathfinder should weigh about two ton.

There are front-wheel drive versions and total switchable traction, the previous Pathfinder, which is sold in Spain, has a total switchable traction system, when only sends power to a shaft, which makes the rear wheel, front no. This is due to the new arrangement of the engine: it goes from being placed longitudinally in pregnant transverse forcing Nissan to use a different drive system, in this case called "ALL-MODE 4x4-i '(the same as has the X-Trail), in which an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch coupling the rear axle to the front. With this change lost the gearbox.

The interior is completely different, more refined look. In the instrument panel, between the two main needle indicators, there is a color screen. On the console, there is another touch operation. The front seats can be heated and ventilated. There is also a set of outer chambers which facilitate maneuvers.

One of the most notable improvements is the increased configuration options that offer the second and third row seats. The second allows to hasten or delay, to adjust as needed the space for the legs in the second and third row (or trunk). The backs of the two rows are adjustable in tilt.

The system of access to the third row looks interesting as there are two ways to do this. A seat on the side of the second row forward and, simultaneously, the back folds forward and the sidewalk is raised slightly to allow a little more forward seat.

The second method is intended for when bringing a child seat installed in this case, the seat is forward leaning slightly forward.
